In what condition the brainstorming technique may works effectively?

Brainstorming is an effective technique from group creativity in giving idea to solve problem. It is a little more effective than working independently as an individual. It generates from the ideas and thoughts that can be change and improve into useful ideas.

First, when there is a conflict in the group. By having conflicts in the group there shall be more effective ideas and solutions to solve the problem occur. Conflict is divided into two which are the functional conflict and dysfunctional conflict. Dysfunctional conflict is not bring any good to the group as they are unhealthy conflicts. For example, a husband and wife can't get along and fight all the time and blame the youngest child for all their troubles by saying "If it weren't for him, we'd all be a happy family!". Functional conflicts are the good conflict as it gives increment of effectiveness of the group. For instance, a family sits down and argues about the pros and cons of going to the beach for summer vacation. They have planned on going to the mountains. So from the above examples, functional conflict may bring to the effective brainstorming.

Second, when there is assessments or group projects. This happens when the group is given tasks to be completed. They will sit together and discuss the effective ideas for the given tasks. The members of the group will give ideas in order to solve the problems of the tasks. When they want the task to be completed perfectly, they will tend to develope more ideas then they usually do. For example, group A is given a task to complete within a long period of time. The group members will sit together frequently and discuss the best solutions to get more ideas to complete the task.

Third, when the group or individuals are forced to give answers or ideas. Each members of the group will find it tense in the situation when they are forced to give answers or ideas. They will automatically developed the brainstorming technique where they sit together and gives as many ideas as they can. There will be no critics in the idea given. But, at the end of the dicussion, the best idea will be selected. For instance, Lecturer A gives only five minutes to each group to develope answers in the question given. Each members of the group will sit together and develope the best answers.

As a conclusion, brainstorming technique is the best method to be used in any situation.=).

An individual tend to take more risky decision when in the group compared when they are alone…..

Miss,this is our answer+opinion..

GROUP VS. THE INDIVIDUAL

Decision making groups may be widely use in organizations, individual and group decisions each have their own set of strength. Neither is ideal for all situations.

In group, we can find information, knowledge, increase create any idea or creativity in a group with more completely. That automatically can interact and interdependent together to achieve goal.

Besides that, a group will increased acceptance of a solution. People are more likely to accept and encourage other to accept the decision when they participate in the decision itself. This translates into more support for the decision and higher satisfaction among these required to implement it.
Then, group decision can increase diversity of view. In this scope, that increased in input from group members to the decision making. This will open up the opportunity for more approaches and alternatives to be considered.

(+) In our opinion, making decision in the group is much better than alone. when we are in the group, we will feel strong because have a back up in our back. In term of making decision, in group, we not afraid to making any decision because the members of our group automatically will support our idea or decision that has been make.
Furthermore, when we are in group, it will make us more confident to make any decision. That because, with group supporter we will able to take any risk because if the result it was bad, we had to take it together meanwhile making decision alone, we have to accept the burden or responsibility alone…

Lastly, each opinion in group must be discussed with other members to get higher quality decisions. The decision must be agreed by other. That important in avoid them to have ‘war and conflict’ with each other….

Assalamualaikum.. and a very good day to all....

our group members are, Juwaini, Ross Ainura, Tengku Halinda, Jihadi, Asrul, Samsul, and Ridzuan (AMD5PD)
okay......it seems that this is our first time in doing assignment through blog. thanks to miss fisha..hak2. our group's topis is 'can disfunctional conflict be changed into functional conflict'..if anyone knows the answer, raise up your hand!
. . . . . . . . .?
ok..no hands here..its ok..we'll try to give the answer..sounds smart huh? well...WE ARE SMART!!muahahahaha..okay..lets get serious..

firstly, of course, the definition. functional conflict is a conflict that support the goals of the group and improve performance. you see guys, the meaning is, it can be a motivation for an individual in organization who facing conflict, and it will result to the increment of efficiency, effectiveness, and the credibility of that particular employee. then it will reflect to the productivity of that organization.

alright, another type of conflict is dsyfunctional of conflict. this kind of conflict is different with the above conflict as we stated. it might contribute to a bad group performance. if anyone here who is working is having disfunctional conflict, well..you know better. of course it will hinder your group performance.

okay..lets go back to the question..the answer is yes, it can.how? wanna know? dont worry, we will give you guys the answer.

okay...a group member may percieve an action as dysfunctional, in that the outcome is personally dissatisfying to him or her.however, for our analysis, that action is personally would be functional if it furthers the objectives of the group.
next method,guess what?hoho...

to make a dysfunctional conflict to be a functional conflict, we have go to the 5 steps of conflict process. which is; first stage:potential opposition or incompability.in this stage, all sorts of things such as the responsibilities, goals, style of leadership, and also the personal issues will be counter. this is to make sure the conflict will be reduce by solving the matter using few method, such as avoidence, copromise and so on..
we have gone through two methods, so far..alright, now is..hmm.. next stage, which is the cognition and personalization. in stage 1 before, it negatively affect something that one party cares about, then the potential for opposition or incompability becomes actualized in the second stage. the antecedent conditions acan only lead to conflict when one or more of the parties are affected. okay..sounds hard to understand..but what we are tring to say is that, this is where the conflict will be issued tend to be defined. ha..now you understand huh..

the next stage is intentions. this is between people's perceptions and emotions and their evident behavior. these intentions are decisions to act in a given way.in thsi stage there will be the methos that commonly use to solve conflict such as the competing, avoiding, collaborating, accomodating, compromising and smooting...etc..

last stage is the outcomes. the action-reaction interplay between the conflicting parties results in consequenses. outcomes may be functional, in that the conflict results in an iprovement in the group's performance, or dysfunctional, in taht it hinders group performance.
okay,okay...we're done now..so for the conclusion,we want to ask you guys a question, instead of just giving a statement.ehemm,,,do you guys want a discussion to be end up like this;
or...like this;...?

phew..finish at last..now..what do you think of what we said above? do you agree? or disagree? or do you have any opinion about it? you do, don't cha?
well, guess that if you could give feedback to us, then we would know what do you guys really think about the topic..
anyway...goodbye for now..chow..

Assalamualaikum..

We are from Group Pistachio For Brain (AMD5PD).
Our members are Khairunnisa Ismail, Farah Syuhada, Safuhah, Mohd Fazree Zulhilmi, Wan Mohd Aimi and Mohd Shahdan.

The question given is: What the employer should do to create stress-free environment? Discuss?

Our answers are....jeng...jeng...jeng...

A good and condusive working environment is very vital for the employees, employers and the whole organization in order to perform well and enhance their work performance to achieve organization's goals.

In order to achieve the goals, there are several conditions to be considered. One of the most condition that should be consider is the employer roles and responsibilities towards the employees to avoid and prevent stress from occur in the workplace. For that, the employers should take appropriate methods or actions to create stress-free environment.

The first criteria that should be concerned is in term of workload. The employer should be divide the workload carefully to the employees by following their functions and level of responsibilities in the organization. For many employees, they feel that having too much work to do and not have enough time to complete the work can be stressful.

Let's move to the second criteria to be consider by the employer that is in term of job condition. The employer must ensure that office temperature is suitable that means not too hot or too cold for the employees, suitable lightning, appropriate and comfortable office layout for employees easy to move, prohibit loud noise, well-equipped of office facilities and technology advancement such as computers, telephones, internet connection and so on.

The third criteria is about career development. This criteria also must be put in priority to avoid stress from happen. The employer has to concerned about job security of the employees due to the reorganizing or down-sizing. In term of promotion, transfer and development opportunities, the employer should follow the organization policy and guidelines based on the qualifications, experiences and suitable reasons given by the employees. The employer cannot simply do it based on favouritism, nepotism or without follow the guidelines. If it happens, there will exist a sense of unsatisfied, unfair and disagreement to others employees.

The fourth criteria is interpersonal relations. It means the relationship between employers and employees and relationship between employees and their collegues. It is said that when relationship among each others is poor, then it can be stressful. So, it is important to the employer to be nice, polite, friendly and fair to the employees without care about their age, religion, races, status and etc. It will create a stress-free environment.

In a nutshell, if the employer fulfil all the criterias as stated above, it will lead to a stress-free environment in the working place. Employees will be more high-spirit, relaxed, inspired and enjoy doing their works.

That's all from us. Hope that our entry will get good feedbacks or comments from other groups.
Thank you very much.

My Note

Scrolling the whole comments you made to each other, I sensed something unpleasant.

Some of the comments like targeting at personal issue which totally unacceptable here. Don't use "character assassination" because we are not practising politicized culture here.

For that matter, if I sense any statements that in any way sound like "character assassination" or personal assault in your comments, the group will be penalized (marks deduction is a must).

Please discuss in very 'civilized' manner - even though I did say and advocated cynical, provocative, you don't have to go that far ... No point of accusing the other group's English is bad when you also never be better than them.

Differences in opinion is welcomed. But, to attack personal differences is an absurd!

This has to be stopped. Do I make myself clear now?
